MEN—NOT PARTY.
In concluding a very interesting address at tho. Farmers' Union Conference at Palmenston North on Tuesday, the Rramo Minister (Hon. T. Mackenzie) urged the farmers to pin their faith to men, and not to party. This ;.s : advice Which 'has some significance at the present juncture. It is 'quite evident thai Mr Mackenzie has no faith in his own party. He oannot think that it has come to stay, or he would (have appealed for sympathy in its behalf. The Prime 'Ministor'is remarks are tantamount to saying, "I am your guide, .philosopher and frieud. Take-no notice of the Laurensons and Ells, and? those in .my party who;;would despoil you. Stick to me, and I wil'l see you through." Mr Mackenzie may not display imuoh loyalty to (his colleagues—ne shows the greatest consideration for himself.
