WEEKLY HALF-HOLIDAY.
It is a very groat .pity that the question of the weekly half-holiday should be raised in Masterton at the present juncture. Tlie town, is just recovering (from a period of depression, and any innovation which would tend to divert or disorganise trade would prove a calamity. That the changing •of the day of closing from Thurrsday Ito Saturday -would produce dire rssuits to a large uuraber df tradesmen is obvious. And that it 'would be attended with injury to the great bulk of the .working classes is equally apparent. The Borough Council, a.s gUM'diaiii'S of the public interest, should pause befoiie (it pursues a step which' might be fraught .-with. incalculable injury to a largo (section of the 'community.
