THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.

A TREBLE ATTRACTION. The great attraction at the Foresters' Hall to-night is Irving's great success, "Tlhe Bells." The picture can certainly be termed a cinematographic triumph. Graphically each , thrilling detail of this 'wcdd-Avide success is described in the picture. The storyopens up with a violent snow storm, which has been raging over the courftry side for some days.' Then' th+«picture flashes on to the sheet, and 1 the interior of the 'inn kept by Matthias is seen with the villagers taking their evening tankard. Whilst at tihispleasant occupation the people are■•stiartkd by the sound of sleigh bells, and presently a figure is seen emerging from the tliickling falling snow, ami the door opens to admit the Polish Jew, who is the cause of,> Matthias* downfall. The Jew takes'off his wraps: and wearily throws down a belt heavily laden with gold coins. Matthias is in monetary difficulties and laments fho fact that unless money can be found to discharge has debts his dear wife and the daughter who is the apple of bis eyo/must be turned out into the street without a home to shelter them. After resting a time the Jew resumes his journey, and it is then that the* Tempter comes along and prompts Matthias to murder tlhe Jew for-the sake of his gold. After some ci>nsidwrestling with his conscience Matthias at last succumbs and sets out to track down the Jew. , Without a | doubt tihis picture of "The Bells" is the finest piece of cinematographTc work seen here. Mr Alfred Boothman, the well-known Australian elecutionist, has been specially engaged to describe the play as it h shown upon the screen. The remainder of the programme is exceptionally'strong in nl_l I varieties of subjects, including another I special star production of 3000 ft, entitled, "The Ballet Dancer."
