A deputation representing the grocers of tilie town Avaited upon the S'tirike Oomimittee of the Miners' Vnion, and placed their position, before the Ciommiittee. This AAas found necessary in view of the severe criticism levelled against the grocers following their decision to conduct their business on dash principles during the period of the strike. The deputation pointed out that they Ave re compelled .to adopt such methods in face of notifications' received from the Merchants Association, the Thames Valley Dairying Association, etc., to the effect that- a.lil orders must now be accompanied by cash. The grocers could not carry on without cash, therefore they Had no other alternative in the matter ._ The deputation received a good hearing at the hands of the Committee, and it Avas stated that the latter's decision in the matter aaouM lie put at the next mass meeting in the shape of a resolution.
