The funeral of the nhis-year old daughter of Mr and Mrs P. Mortenstir,. who died the aftor olfecU of diphtheria, took place on Friday. A largo number of sympathetic friends attended. A bright, promising littlechild has been removed from her playmates and devoted parents, and muclt sympathy will be felt for the bereaved cues. It ds expected that the school will be reopened early this week, as nn more fresh ca.ses of diphtheria have taken place. Every precaution Las been taken to prevent a further outbreak from tho school. The local factory is now \vorking ott. alternate days, and will be closing early in June. Tlio season, though not altogether in favour of the butter industry, has not barred the progress of this enterprising Company. The directors have had new machinery of the latest type set in, including combined churn and butter workers, pastuerisers, and an uprto-date pumping plant. The grading, which is over 95 r is kept up, no,doubt, by these improved methods of working and handling the product, combined with the management's untiring and efficient efforts. The directors have, received two letters from their Home agents, stating that in no way could the butter be improved, for the Home market.
