Mr.Lendrick McMaster, who has been in the' employ of Mr C. E. Daniell, of Masterton, for some years, left yesterday to take a position as bookkeeper to Mr F. Carter, sawmiller, of Ohalume. Mr W. H. Beetham, Mrs Hugh Williams, and other members of the family, left Masterton for Auckland yesterday to attend the funeral of the lato Mr T. C. Williams. Mr Arthur Page, a clerk in the office cf J the .Masterton railway station, who is severing his connection with Railway Department in order to follow farming pursuits, was presented by the officers of the local staff on Saturday with a handsome shaving outfit. The presentation was made by Mr G. Falla (the stationmaster), who referred to the many excellent qualities of the departing officer. Mr G. W. Arlidge, who has been 1 some years on the Masterton staff of Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., has received notice of his transfer to the Wellington office, and leaves for the Empire' City on Saturday next. During his stay in Masterton, Mr Arlidge has riiado himself exceedingly popular, and his departure will bo regretted by a wide circle of friends.

Mr P. A. Ericksouy a well-known resident of Carterton, was overcome with a paralytic seizure yesterday, and in the afternoon was removed to the Sout.li Wairarapa Hospital. Mr Victor Beck, touring manager for the English Pierrots, is at present in -Masterton, making arrangements for the appearance of the company, which opens in the Ma.ster.ton. Town Hall on Monday next. Mr R. Person, for some time on the telegraphic staff of the Masterton Post Office, has been transferred to Opotiki, and left yesterday to .take up his newposition.. Miss Morrison, who has for some time been assistant teacher at the Lansdowne school, has .been transferred to lEketa'huna. Miss Gohert has boon appointed relieving teacher at .the Lansdowne school.
