PONGAROA MAIL SERVICE.

The Eketahuna paper strongly supports a movement, initiated in Pongafoa, for the establishment of a daily mail service between there and the backblocks district. The present service from Pahiatua seems a roundabout and unsatisfactory one for a large number of settlers. A motor service for part of ihe distance from Masterton has been advocated; but, on reviewing the subject in all its bearings, we are convinced that a service from Eketahuna to Pongaroa would, in the meantime, be more'convenient. This ■would enable the morning mails from (Master ton, to be delivered at Pongav roa in time for am answer by the return mail next day. We should like to see a conference between the Masterton and Eketahuna Chambers of Commerce on this subject.
