IMPROVING COMMUNICATION.
At the meeting cf .the Masterton Chamber of Commerce yesterday, a letter was read from the Wellington Chamber, suggesting co-operation with the Hutt County Council and other local bodies in securing improved road communication.' be.tw.een the Waira■rapa and Wellington. Mr Darnell expressed pleasure at the fact that the Wellington Chamber was beginning to take an interest in the country districts. Tho City Chamber had a live President in Mr Mabin, In refe-rence to the railways, .a lot of money had been- expended upon them ; but they .continued to runslowly, though surely. Mr Daniell thought this Chamber .should co-oper-ate, heartily with the .Wellington Chamber in airy, step* it might take to bring town and country closer together. • Mr James Brown, endorsed the remarks of the Chairman, and expressed pleasure that the Wellington Chamber was interesting itself in- the country districts. He thought a sin all committee should be setup.to go into the matter with the Wellington-. Chamber. The question of cold storage, amongst others', might be considered.
Mr Daniel! stated that the Harbour Board was- now taking up the question of cold storage, and .was calling for tenders for the erection of a cold storage shed. Mr James Brown moved, "That this Chamber heartily endorsed the proposals of the Wellington. Chamber, and will co-operate with local .bodies of the district in providing better road facilities and in improving trade relations between-' the town and country.
