TOURISTS' RESORTS
AND RAILWAY FACILITIES. A communication was received from the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce at yesterday's meeting of the Masterton Chamber, covering resolutions in favour of reduced passenger rates to tourist and 'health resorts, week-end excursion tickets to such resorts, and a sliding-scale for long-distance fares.
Mr Daniell mentioned that it seemed to him that the railways were being run in a ridiculous manner. They had already badgered the Minister. who had lost his mid-day meal over a deputation. Mr James Brown thought that it was the duty of this Chamber to look after the means of transit of goods to market, and not after tourists. He moved that the report be received.
Mr Summerell seconded the resoluion, which was earned.
