Gunn having tied for first place, a shoot off was necessary, and A. lorns was successful in .gaining first pJace. The Chub .is now .m a very flourishing condition, and promises to become a very strong organisation. The members, have ehown -great improvement since last season, when between fifty and .sixty per cent generally -received first prize. The .present .season .has changed this, bid a competitor has tso kill at least 90 per cent, of his birds before .he gets into the prize money. It is expected that at least five cf ffe members of itJhe- Ohrb will compete at the ivew Zealand championship .meeting, ito ibe 'held at Wanganui on the 22nd ins*., and i!f the present excellent form is maintained some of the .prizes 'should find their way to Master ton. Mr R. J. King, with typical genereeity, lias donated a' beautiful and valuable 'rose howl to the Club for competition. It has not yet been, decided as to the conditions under -which the howl is to -be 1 competed for, but it is probable tba'fc the trophy will have/ 1 to be won twice in succession or three tcm.es at intervals before it becomes j the property of any member of 'the Club.
