Superintendent C. C. Warner, or the- Palmorston North Fire Brigade, .has-been appointed to the position ot Superintendent of tho Christcimrch Firo Brigade. A Press Association wire received last night states that Mr George 1V.i1,. an old and highly respected resident of ,'Wangamii, died yesterday. Colonel James Allen, <M.P. for Bruce, who has served twenty-three years in the Defence Forces, has been awarded the long service medal. . Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P., was on a visit to Napier this week. Tho Hons. J. A. Haiian and Tc Tlangihiroa left Masterton for Wellington yesterday by tho afternoon train. Mr 11. McXah, ex-Ministcr of Agri.. "culture, will deliver a lecture at tho Wellington Philosophical Society's meeting at the end of this month on early Dominion, history. Mr \V. Fisher, Chairman of the Taratahi Dairy Company, formerly a member of South Wairarapa County Council, has been elected unopposed to fill tho vacancy on the Carterton Borough. Council, caused by the retirement of Cr. Berrill. We congratulate- Or Fisher on his appointment, unci ifche Borough.on securing the services ot a practical man. Mr H. S. Wardell is reported to bo seriously ill in Wellington with.a severe attack of pneumonia.
