STATE ELECTIONS
LIBERALS LEAD IN QUEENSLAND. THE EFFECT OF STRIKES.
(Received April 30, 9.40 a.m.)
SYDNEY, Aprii 30. The Hon. A. Griffith (Minister for Public Works), interviewed on-the result of the Queensland elections, said ho was not surprised at Labour's failure. "If a section- of the community,'' he said, "declares war against the general public and tries to starve it out. it is only natural to expect the public to hit back. That is what has happened in South Australia and Queensland, and if a general strike was organised i» Sydney just prior to ihe elections our party would get rubbed out."
