Last year the Education Board received from various local bodies, and Agricultural Associations, subsidies amounting to £l5O a year .towards the salary of the Agricultural Instructor, Air iM. Brown, because lie gave 'lectures to farmers from time to time. Mr Brown Jiaving resigned, (■oiive memibers .liave led to the thought that it would be preferable to 'have an instructor, experienced in teaching the children, ami. disregarding the lectures... .The local 'bodies have declined to assist in paying such a (teacher. Tlie Board to-day decided to advertise in. Now Zealand and Australia,' alternatively offering £350 and £SO more for one able to lecture to farmers. The Board /lias under consideration tihe procuring of some .wood-working machinery for .the foreman in the carpenters' sihap, to facilitate the /making of school (furniture. A memI iber of the Board, who 'is a retired teacher, declared that the single desk I made in. the workshop is the best yet seen in New Zealand.
