At a meeting cf Cabinet to-divy, the following exponditiure was approved: —Wai'hou (Thames) river Improvement, £65,000; railways, permanentway, aliid railways generally, £63,000; South Island Main .Trunk, £4000; GiV oorne to <N T apcca" line, £1800; Moftu'Opotiki line, £300; Oatline-T/aim.aha-<ka line, £5000'; Midland, £1500; 'Klawakaiwa'wHokianga line, £6000; -Knffiu Valley railway extension, £750; Gisborne-Motiu line, £8000; Wo&tport-. MiangrJlma, £7OO. It was decided to open,the telephone exchange at East Oxford, and the telephone service between Bavelock (South Island) and Timataugi (metallie circuit); to estalhlitfli a metallic circuit at Master-ton. and AMredton; to open a telephone office at Port 'Hardy (D'Urville Island).
