UNCLEAN MONEY.

The.'action of Wangaaiui in refusing to ask Mar Carnegie, for a grant towards a Library is being applauded in | some quarters. It is maintained that the money of Carnegie is "unclean," because it 'has been acquired at the expense of the masses. These who take up tliis line of argument are among the first to ask the New Zealand Government for a grant towards their library. And where has tihe New Zealand Government been in the habit-of getting most of its money? Has it not come from the Jews or fchp Garnegies of England? The man who I enquires too closely into the methods of public benefactors, or those, who have wealth to dispense, is too punctilious altogether for this world.
