Tha't . liordy annual, the Bible-in-tohools question, is again agitating •fche public mind in Oiiristchurch, and a League has been formed to- keep t'be pot of agitation well boiling. So far, 210 League has been able to place a satisfactory proposal on the subject before the (people of the Dominion. The religious bodies themselves are di-vided-.upon'the question.' The system which most nearly approximates to the ideas of the dissenting duirches is that which is in opera t'ion in New >Soutih Wales. But even this' is not without its faults. The' people cf New -iZealfeuui -view with apprehension any a<clem.pt to (Introduce .•sectarianism into the State schools. Before Parliament will be disposed to .alter tihe Education Act' so that religious instruction will be possible during school (hours, (public opinion will require to t>e educated a good deal.
