In the course of his interesting address in 'Masterton on Saturday afternoon, tost on the subject of "Plant Breeding," 31r J. G. Wilson drew attention to irho growing difficulty 'which; was being experienced in procuring suitable farm .labour..' Mr Wilson .fiiuggested the overcoming of the difficulty by..the importation of youtlhs 'from the Old Country. Does the President of the Farmers 1 --Union wish ws to believe thalt there are ho young men bred and born in this country who are fitted for fanm life? Does ho not rather enifphasis* a weakness in tlie'BbViSal-'and educational systems of the Dominion? We-are-paying a lot of attention to the (breeding of stock and plants. OouH we not devote a fJAth time to of "-the'problem of how to breed suoceg#ul : Farmers?' The (Farmers' Union would r'en;«der good service to the community if tit were to apply itself to a solution of this problem. x
