SYDNEY, April 18. Alfred Smith h'aU been committed, lfbr trial on a charge of burglary at the residence of Mr Thompson at Rand-wick. The accused lias furnished a written statement, in which he alleges that ia man named Balson induced him t» accompany ln'm- to Thompson's' ■blouse, and .to watclh while Balson robbed it. Balson, whom • flhe police are unbble to trace, was shot in' the sOioivlder. They afterwards divided the proceeds of the robbery. The accused states that art tho time he was out of work and desperate. He ex'pmicd sorrow' for the trouble he had caused. Smith was committed for trial on a second charge of burglary at RandHiiek on January 23a-d. He was faced with finger print evidence. Smith' admitted having cemmitifced the rubbery.
