THE REASON.
After searching in vain for a plausible reason for the alteration of the railway ti'mtMtaole in tho Wairarapa every time there is a race meeting at •Trentihum, we are' forced to the con-clusion-.filial there is- absolutely-none. But, we ssmeila mouse! Presumably tdie Club hais to guarantee a; certain'.,iiumber of passengers by its ■ excursion train. By tHie running of .this, train at the ordinary time-table hour,. ,a number of passengers are secured who have. no more intention, c-f going to the racesftbam they have of flying. And so the Club's guarantee is "readied." It is an exceedingly clever though unsavoury piece of business, if this theory be correct.
