MR HOAR'S ADDRESS.
Although 1 Mr T. G. .Hoar <w*& not! favbured w<ith_a; large audience at hii first meeting; in Masterton last even-
ing, those pi-esent had the satisfaction of hearing a plain, outspoken, unvarnished statement of tho affairs of the Etarough. Mr .Hoar showed that he is .not only -well versed in muuidipal matters, but that he is poes-essc-d of a genuine desire to,see the town prosper. His advocacy of the closer settlemeait o. the district, and tho establishment oi local industries, was appropriate to the occasion, and will deuotless afford food for reflection, between, now and the day of election. Tllie candidate's criticism of what he tvTmcd .the "northern approach blunder" would not appeiax to be without &onie jiumficatwrn. In other respects, .he was candid and straightforward, and hi® references to the work of the Council were, on occasions, particularly generous. Mr •Hoar is going to moke a bigger bid for the Mayoralty cf Ma«-terton than some <may suppose.
