HIBERNIAN SOCIETY

ORDINARY MEETING.

The fortnightly meeting of St. Michael's branch, of the Hibernian .Society was held on Tuesday evening, in the Druids'. Hall, when the President of tlhe branch (Bro. E. Flavin) presided over a good attendance of members. Bro. >V. Bryant applied for la elegance certificate, as he is leaving for Wellington. The implication /was grawted. At he conclusion of the meeting a (?ota'ial function was held, in the form of a farewell to Bro: J. Waters, a past President of the branch, and who ess; leaving the district. Bro. B. Chapman presided, and a number of representatives from other Lodges nvere also present. The toast of "The Guest of "the Evening" was proposed by Bro. S. .O'Begian, wlio referred to Bro. Waters' long connection with, the Miasterton branch, and his services j would be very much missed. The chairman then handed Bro. Waters a Ptefc President's emblem, which was received amidst cheers. Bro. Waters, in replying, said he would always cherish the romembraaice of lr.s connection with the MfliSfterton. Lodge and its memihers. A lengthy toast 1 isi was gone through, and songs and redtations were contributed by various /members., while the bagpipe selections of Bro. F, O'Connor gave much pleasure.
