A CABLE DESPATCHED

AUCKLAND. Last Night. His Excellency'tho Governor has despatched the foil owing message to the Secretary of State for the Colonies : "My Government, fmd the-people of New Zealand, are deeplv. grieved at the terrible catastrophe that has overtaken their friends, both British and American, in the loss of the Titanic. Kindly convey New Zealand's grief at the appalling*loss of valuable lives (Signed) ISLINGTON."
MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY
Press Association messages show that at meetings .held at Gisboni.e. Wanganui, and Christchurch last evening, resolutions of sympathy were passed in reference .to tho disaster.
