WHERE IS MR PAYNE?

At the conclusion of the Labour Conference in Wellington yesterday, it was announced thtat Messrs Veitch, Robertson, and Hindanarsh were now members of the United Labour Party. This is- very satisfactory, so far as it goes. But where is Mr ( John Payne, the acrobatic member for Grey Lynn? Has he hopjred over the fence entirely ? Or, is there insufficient room in the fold for one of such huge political proportions? Since he expressed his- determination to vote against the Government, and neither the Reform Party nor the United Labour Party will apparently recognise him, it looks as though Mr John (Payne is in the position of the boy who fell out of the balloon.
