PROPOSALS FOR UNITY.

The New Zealand Labour Party, at ■Us conference to-day, considered the proposals which had 'been brought down in connection with the unity conference. It was agreed that tin? name ef the organisation be the United Labciu Party of New Zealand, and that its ■objects .uliall .bo to promote the organisation- of all the workers of New ■Zealand in all forms of necessary service to -protect their intercuts in the •mjvttor cf regular rational and remun-erat-ive employment t promote their good citizen-ship and to increase the>:r efficiency ; to consolidate their political power in their own behalf and to use their whole power both political and economic in negotiation .with the employers licfc re the courts in municipal, county and 'Dominion governments in .international relation, and if need be in industrial revolt to u-se the fruits of every partial victory to strengthen and continue this work until the power to oppress and exploit any cf the workers—cither by private monopolies, controlling government, or through private monopoly ownership and control oif industry—shall utterly disappear, and there ishlall be secured for the people the power to purchase with their income the products of their labour until, in Jmrt, the means cf production, distribution and exchange in so far as they constitute in private hands instruments cf oppression and exploitation shall he socially owned and operated without profit and for the common good of all. ' A number of other general clauses were also adopted.
