THE CHILDREN'S APPEAL.
The appeal which is being :r.ade j through our coluwins on behalf of the starving children of England is not meeting with that response which one might have expected frm .t wealthy and Christian communi+y. There is, rlt as true, a strong prejudice against the strikers. It should be remembered, I "however, thatof thousands''of people 'who have-bad no mere .connection with the strike than the man in the moon, and who have no claim upon the strike funds, liave been arFected '' by theifdislocation of trade and industry. The. cables tell us that thousands of 'families are oh the verge of starvation. Many •of us. have end lgh and ' to gpare, and we would be doing a : reaL service helping those who are ; )gaing hungry.
