EAST COAST RAILWAY
AND THE NAPIER EXPRESS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) NAPIER, Last Night. Mr J. Vigor BroAvn, M<P., inteiy viewed the Hon. W. iS. D. Macdonald, Minister for Public Works, as the latter ,was passing through Napier yesterday, to urge greater expedition in the orosecution of work on the East Coast Railway. , Mr Brown pointed out that at the present rate of progress it would* probably be 10 years before the first sec-, tion was completed. The Minister promised to give the matter his attention. Mr Brown also urged the necessity, of speeding up the expi-ess. train from N&pier to Wellington by cutting put the small stopping places. : Mr-Macdonald said he / recognised the need for this. , The.member for Napier informed a reporter, as an example of the slowness of the trains, that he had come down in his car, and left it at the station just as the train was leaving, and when ho •'■arrived at Hastings the car was waiting for him.
