LABOUR AND DEFENCE.
The Labour Party is' confronted with a big proposition in the matter of defence. . It is well-known that the Socialist eleaneri& in the community is opposed to militarism in any isbape or form. Thie reason is that it suspects that the primary object of defence is to protect capital. These misguided people overlook the fact that -anjrthin-g.whi&h destroys capital and ' commerce (has a baneful effect upon The Labour Party and the Socialists are not identical so fa' - "a® their methods are concerned. Their aspirations, however,, are not dissimilar. The attitude of the party on ithe defence question will be watched with considerable interest-
