FIERCE ENCOUNTER
STUDENTS AND TOWNSFOLK FIVE PERSONS KILLED. (Received Last 'Night, 5.5 o'clock.) LISBON, March 31. The townsfolk of Braganza have armed themselves with fowling-pieces, an consequence of the misconduct of students. They attacked the students, who were armed with automatic pistols, and. a desperate encounter ensued. Women, wielding stilettos, joined in the fray. Five were killed and twenty-three wounded. The military were called out, and re-established order. Many arrests were made.
