WHO WILL BE COMMISSIONER?
Not the least important step the new Government will be called upon to take will "be the appointment of a successor to Sir W. Hall-Jones as High Commissioner. The term of the present Commissioner has been extended until May, to give, the "Government an opportunity of arranging its plans. In some quarters it is thouglut that Mr Robert McNab will be offered the appointment. There is a strong public feeling, however, in favour of the appointment of Sir Joseph Ward to ttlie position. At no time more than the present, when loans have to be ire-arranged, was there a necessity for a strong financial man at the other end. Sir Joseph .Ward has the whole ,tof the financial operations of the Dominion at his finger tips. He knows ithe run of the ropes in London, and lie could render valuable service to the country .as High Commissioner. We, therefore, hope that he may be induced to accept the position, at anyrate for a period.
