THE TRAMWAY UNION
FINED £IOO. The Wellington Tramway Union was yesterday fined £IOO by Dr McArthur, S.M., for having instigated an unlawful strike. Br McArthur, in giving judgment, said the offence committed was a very serious one A case of a similar kind in connection with the Merchant Service Guild had recently come under his notice, and wiihfcut going..into'the merits of this case, he thought that if he treated the Tramway-- Union in the same way as lie had' tilio Guild, he would be getting as near the ends of justice a,s he possibly could. The Union would he lined £IOO. Ho was sorry to do this, but there was another way of g<xn.g about the matter, and if the Union had followed the course in question it would have been imuch wiser. •
