CHARGE OF THEFT

AGAINST A CLERK. (By Telegraph — Press Association.) BUNkES, Last Night. Frederick Percy Evans appeared at the Magistrate's Court this afternoon, on a charge of having, on or about November 20th, 1905, committed theft, by receiving from Messrs W. B. Manly and Co. the sum of £lO on terms requiring him to pay the same to the Dunedhi City Corporation, and fraudulently omitting to pay same. The accused was remanded till April Ist. Mr McGregor, who appeared for the Corporation, intimated that a charge of falsifying the amounts of accounts would bo laid against accused tlrlis week. He said it wn-s almost impossible to state the amount involved, but it would certainly into £IOO. Bail was allowed in. accused's recognisance of £l5O and two sureties of £75 each.
