The Foilding Jockey Club lias received excellent nominations for its autumn meeting, some of the Dominion's .best known performers being entered. The- acceptances received for the Musterton meeting are in every way gratifying, and the Club is already assured of an' excellent meeting. A nunuber of owners having horses entered in the Waipipi Oup are wondering how St. Feiix came to receive 6st 101b, and. receiving, r weight from several horses that have never won an j open handicap, while St. Felix- lias I won open races when competing [ against the best company in the country, notably when he won at the New Zealand Oup meeting last November, heating (Masterpiece. St. Felix has received 6st 121:b in the Great Autumn at Hiecarton, which makes it hard to understand how he comes to be bottom weight in a race like theli asterton Cup. The dual win of Sinapis at the Nelson fixture .last week was anticipated by her connections, who are reported to have had a good win. J A. Wright, tlie Foxton trainer, is ibringing five horses to the Masterton •meeting, including The Hover, Lady Laddo, Puketotara, a Bracelet candidate and a maiden. The two former are reported -to be doing good work at Foxton. Sea Quefci), one of the fancied Cup candidates, arrives to-day, in charge of H. Kingan. Tho St. Ambrose ran re has been' galloping well of late, and must be hard to 'beat on Thursday. Sir Solo, who ran so well at "Woodville, is doing great work on. the Opaki tracks, 'and yesterday morning, with a light weight- up, put up one 'of tho best gallops over a mile yet J seen at Opaki. He will be ridden by McMullen, and should run prominent!y. Strathcona, ' Ladino and Sir Knox were associated in a five furlong spin along the back yesterday morning. Ladino, who is at present in good buckle, had too .much foot for the others, and finished clear of Sir Knox, with -Strathcona a length, away. Sir Knox is- not hitting out with his usual freedom, but he never was a good track horse, and may be expected to filujyi' out better in the race, and with Deelev in the saddle, will have to be reckoned with at the end of a mile and a quarter. Woolnoth, a Maiden candidate, has improved a great- deal of late, and has been galloping attractively. A large number of visiting horses will arrive to-day and to-morrow, so that tht> track work will bo more interesting during the next day or two.
