REVOLUTIONARIES CAPTURE THE CAPITAL
MINISTERS TAKE REFUGE,
(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.)
ASUNCION, March 23. The Revolutionaries have captured the City. The President and his Ministers have taken refuge in Brazilian and Argentine ships.
A cablo received on Saturday stated tOiat a battle was raging between the Revolutionaries and the Government troops, and tlrat some of the battalions bad been decimated. Asuncion is the capital of Paraguay, and has a population of 60,000. The population of Paraguay in 1905 was 631,347, including 50,000 Indians. A revohition took place in 1908 by which General Ferriera's Government was overthrown. There are two British communistic settlements in the Republic, one of which was formed by an Australian trader, Mr Lane, who now edits a paper in Auckland.
