The following are the test pieces in the instrumental ■section, chosen* by : the judge (Mr Harold Gregson, of Auckland) for the Mastertoii Competitions Piano solo, any age, (a) "Sbnate Patliatique," op. 13; (b) "Study ins G- Flat," 0p.25, No. 9 (Chopin) ; piano solo, pupils under 16, (a) "Waltz in A flat," o-p. 69 (Chopin), (b) "Arabesque," op. 39 (jVJ acdowell); piano solo, pupils under 13, "Ohauson Trieste," op. 40, No. 2 (Moszkowski); piano duet any age "Hungary" (from Foreigni Parts) Ed. Angener; violin solo, any age, "llomance," op. No. 1 (Schott Eel.), Vieuxtemps; violin solo, pupils under 16, "Le Cynge," (Durand Ed.), Saint Saens; bugle calls, "General Salute," "Charge," "Tattoo" (Last Post). Side Drum Competition :—l. Long rolls from slow to rapid and back to slow. 2. Seven stroke roll. 3. j-leven stroke roll, •i. Slam and .stroke from hand to hand. 5. Three stroke roll from hand to hand. 6'. Sight reading. Song accompaniment, ''Slow Horses Slow," (Mallinsoni)'. ;
