ART IN WELLINGTON.
The Xew Zealand Academy of Fin® Arts is endeavouring to establish in Wellington a- National Art Gallery which will be worthy of the Dominion. In furtherance of this endeavour, the Council of the Academy is imaking a determined effort to secure a collection of pictures from the Baillie Art Gallery in London. A direct appeal is being made to the leading residents of the district for financial assistance, and we have no doubt that there will he a .generous response on the part of the well-to-do settlers of Hi? 'Wai'rarnna. An Art Gallery in
Wellington, containing all that is host in art-, would .bo a distinct boon to country residents Who visit the city. We have been asked to receive subscriptions in aid of the project to purchase a portion of the Baillio collection, and it will afford us the utmost pleasure to do so. All subscriptions will be locally acknowledged.
