HON. T. MACKENZIE.

The Hon. T. Mackenzie, the new Prime Minister of New Zealand, was born in Edinburgh on March 10th, 1854. He is thus fifty-eight years of age. He was educated at the O'fcago public .schools. Ho first entered Parliament as representative for Clutlia in 1887. Ho has Einoe represented, the Waihemo, Waikouaiti and Taicri electorates, and recently defeated Mr Dive for tie Egmont seat. In 1889 he wont to Great Britain a.s Trade Commissioner for the Dominion, and from 1896 to 1899 was investigating the. trade conditions at Home on behalf of various New Zealaud agencies. He was for many years a member of the Otngo Education Board. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society,, and a Fellow of the Colonial Institute.
