HASTWELL SPORTS
(By Our Special Reporter.) ) The newly formed Hastwell Bports Club held its first meeting in Mr C. Seymour's, paddock yesterday. The attendance was considerably interfered with by the inclement weather, but despite the elements everything passed off successfully. The committee deoidied at tlhe last minute to apply for a registration permit under the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union. Several runners present took advantage of this decision, a>nd pood fields faced the starter ('Mr H. E. Greatliead, of Eketahuna). The various officials had prepared I'ie grounds, aiui the track was well laid out and in fair running order. The events wore got off well to time, and kindred clubs would do well by taking a kiroon from the new club in this respect. The secretary (Mr A. T. Jackson) is worthy oc every praise for the excellent manner in which he carried out the arduous duties of his office. Mr Lars Kjali, chairman of the committee, was an efficient assistant. T:he Bastwell Brass Band, which has made a reputation for itself throughout the Forty-Mile Bush, added considerably to the day's enjoyment by rendering a selected programme of music. Mr G. Braggins, of Mauriceville, lud charge of the aftemon tea and luncheon booth;?, and supplied an excellent repast.
