MASTERTON CHESS CLUB
ANNUAL MEEETINC. The JMasterton- Chess and Draughts Club held their annual meeting on Monday evening, at the Y.M.C.A. Rooms, there being an excellent attendance-. After the report and balance .sheet were read, the election of officers for the year took place, and resulted as follows: Patron, Mr Jas. Brown; President, Mr F. W. H. Rummer; Vice-Presidents, Messrs .G. Jones and J. T. Dagg; Committee, Messrs W. J. Gibson, C. Winchester, W. Hood, Sedcole and W-ilkerson ; Secretary, Mr K. .Welch; Treasurer, Mr- T. J. Thompson ; Auditor, Mr "Wainwright.
Votes of thank-s were passed to Messrs Jas. Brown and G. Jones for the trophies presented during last year, and to Mr J. Dagg for a silver shield to be competed for during the coming season.
Mr S. iMackay was also thanked for acting as the Club's delegate to the N T 0w Zealand Chess Association.
,Mr Jones presented the Chib .with a plioto of the Napier Congress players, which Mr K. Welch offered- to frames' ■ >•'■ • y ''■'*■''■ '•',""' ' ■,./-; It was decided to retain Monday and Wednesday--'evenings' as nights for play, the "Club to use the Y.M.C.A. rooms as formerly.
It was decided, in connection with matches for the Dagg Shield, that members be divided into sections, the winners in the three sections to play off, the Shield to be w r on twice Jn succession or three times at intervals.
