MASTERTON FIRE BOARD
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Committee of the Mas beckon Fire .Board was held last evening, there being present,— Messrs .0. Pragnell (chairman),. J. M. Corar ■dine ami J. P. Prentice. Superintendent Jenkins ■was also present. Regarding the fire-bell, it was d«-> cided that the Superintendent he inistructed.to test it from -the., hydrant, rto ascertain if more satisfactory results could be obtained. It was decided to ask the Borough Council to put the flood-pate in Bannister Street in order; and to charge the costs to the Fire Board. . The Committee recommended the procuring of a canvas.cistern, for use when the pressure is low, and also that the Board should procure four coupling ladders. ; .. It was decided to ask the Borough Council to draw up a by-law, regulating the erection of glass verandahs in ibuildings, as was recoriimeiided in, the Superintendent's report. ' i '"lit was also pointed out that, when the telegraph linesmen were at work on the wires, very often a contact is ■made, which causes alarms to be made . at the station, and to. prevent this it was decided to nsk the authorities . to inform the Board as to what sec- | tions the linesmen are working on.
