THO&IPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. ,'l'ales of the early days of Australian life have great fascination for all, and in a splendid exclusive production,- "The Assigned Servant," that will ilie shown for -the first time tonight at the Foresters" Hall, ive have, a picture cf unusual gripping power. We see the hardships of the unfortunate convicts, who were transported to Australia, in .many cases for very little crime. In this picture, which is 3003 feet long, a clever drama is interwoven .with the convict settlement, and the whole story teems with excit- i ing incidents. The aboriginals are noted for their tracking instincts, and -■we see them.at work trailing the unfortunate, escapee. Supporting this star is another exclusive one that should prove popular with ipicture lovlers, entitled "Vindicated"—the" story | of a man's temptation and honesty. Among the other dramas are "The Tempter and F&i} Cupid," "Only a Factory Girl," "The Adventures of Billy," (a sensational American Biograph .picture). A remarkable film is ''■ Engineering Feats." This clearly shows how New York is supplied withwater, brought a distance of 921 miles, going through the biggest dam J in the world. "His Sister's Children" { by Vitagraph is a clipping from , "Booties' Baby." and shows two* lively [ kids making things very merry. The / comic side is left to the renowned Betty, wit!) the assistance of others to keep things 'moving.
