RACING FATALITY

A WELL KNOWN JOCKEY KILLED. (By Telegraph — Press Association.) ' AUCKLAND, Last Night. A fatal accident occurred at the Ohinemuri Jockey" Club's meeting. Manuera fell in the Northern Welter, and brought down Sliplink. Both jockeys 'were rendered unconscious. Whittaker sustained a severe concussion of the brain. McElynn recovered, but Whittaker died at the Paeroa •railway station while waiting- for the express to go to the Thames Hospital.-

(Whittaker was a well-known New Zealand jockey, and was second to Hector Gray on the list of winning jockeys last year. He had ridden in most of the principal events in the Dominion, and rode for Stead Bros, in Australia last season.) ■
