DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL
SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Masierton District High School Committee was held'last'evening, there being present,— Messrs It. Brown, C. Perry, E. Pragnell, A. Chapman, G.i Hyde, F. J. Thompson, E. H. Waddington and A. Hendry. The headmaster's report was read and confirmed, and considered highly satisfactory. A letter was read from the Wellington Education Board, ■ stating that Miss F. "Hogg was the Board's selection for the position of assistant mistress at the Masterton School. A member of the Committee stated that he had had complaints from a parent in reference to the keeping in of a boy'who was not strong, and who did not have sufficient time to go home and return during' dinner hour.— It was d-cided to leave the matter in the hands of the visiting committee.
The matter of making arrangements to have a befitting opening ceremony cf the new assembly hall was discussed, and a committee was set up to make all necessary arrangements, and to determine what should be the most suitable manner in which to celebrate the event:
Various supplementary works in connection with the new building were "referred to the visiting committee.
Messrs E, Praanell, F. J. Thompson and E. H. Waddington were appointed visiting members for the ensuing month. Jt' was decided that during the winter months the Committee meetings would be held at 7.30 p.m. instead of 8 p.m., as at present. Accounts amounting to £33 10s id were passed for payment.
