Morgan, of Ihuraua, asked that repairs he effected to the road in the neighbourhood of his property, and offered to do the work to the satisfaction of the Council for a sum of £lO 'On the motion of Or Kebhell, the :inatter was referred to the representatives of the Alfrcdton Ridins' , . i • Mr A. J. Patchett wrote, asking that the thirds accrued from sections on the IRakaunui road ibe expended in metalling.— On the motion of Cr Murray, seconded by Cr Tvelibell, it rtvas decided that the request be acceded to. The Eketahuna County Council asked for a contribution of £2O, being a proportion of two years' waggon license from Mr Morris.— Oil the motion of 'Cr Murray, it was decided that the amount due to the Tiketaliun.a County be paid. <? Mr C. F. Yallance asked that the water.tables on the JSgatatuiama-Fer-ii.ylnir.st road be cleaned out. The matter was referred to the Engineer, with power to act. A request for the metalling of Chamberlain Street, Upper Plain, was referred to the Chairman and Engineer, with power to act. The Public Works Department intimated that a sum of £175 10s war. available for expenditure on the Hu-' tuwai -Road.— : Cr Murray stated that ] it was'far too late to expend money in metalling this season. He moved that [ the Department 'be informed that the work will 'he gone'on with as soon as 1 convenient next season.— The resolution was seconded bv Cr Ivebbcll and carried. A communication in reference to the treatment of timber by the "Powell" system was referred to 'the Engineer, with power to act. Tlie Chairman was authorised to sign an agreement in regard to Clapham's Road. Subscription lists were received from Mr N. D. 'Bunting; in reference to the Buchanan testimonial. Jit 'was decided that specifications he prepared for the expenditure of ■an additional Government grant of £7o on the lliversdale Road. The report of the meeting <-y the Finance Committee was read. Th? Treasurer reported a debit balance at tlie bank on the .general account of £4673 18s -Id, and a credit on the loans to local bodies account of £1736 7s. Accounts amounting to £llO7 12s Kkl were recommended for payment. Oh the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Cameron, it was decided that a copy of the letter from Mr W. Woolf, asking for payment of the ! sum of £3/1 16s for extra-sized joists used by him in the construction of the bridges over the Waipoua river be forwarded to the Masterton Borough Council, and that the latter body be asked if it will agree to the claim being paid. On the niotion of Or Murray, seconded !by Cr Miller, it was decided to recommend the Council to invite the Masterton Borough Council to attend a conference on a day to be arranged, for the' purpose of further considering the question of the necessity for extending the bridge over the Waipoua river at the northern approach to (the full width of Queen Street. On the motion of Cr Murray, it was decided that the 'balance of the Hutewai loan be expended on the. road at the junction of the Hutewai. road.

The Engineer was authorised to prepare specifications for construction work on Lett's road.
