A large meeting was held on Saturday night, in the Foresters' Hall, to consider fresh arrangements in connection with the daily mail. It. is proposed that tlie coacli should leave an hour Jater in the morning, and the mail would still reach Wellington the sarae day. Then the Welljlist'On mail could close at four in tfi<f afternoon.,, and come as far as- faster ton that evening, reaching tua next morning at 9 and Pongaroa at 3 o'clock in the afternoon./ This allows of a quicker answer to letters, though not so convenient for passengers on the return journey.
