Autumn. April B.—Waipukurau J.C. Annual. There will lie racing at Napier Park to-morrow arid Thursday. Weights for the Masterton Club's autumn meeting will be declared 011 Fridity, 15th inst. According to those who ,saw Ladino racing at Daunevirke,. the Sir Laddo colt is a greatly improved horse since he raced at Christmas time. If lie had not been interfered with, 110 would have troubled the winner. Park Tide. Kopan-c, 'who raced consistently in the Wairarapa a month or two ago, won a race at Te Aroha last 'week, and' his connections are reported to have had a good win. 'Strathcona, who has been off the scene for .1 ,few years, made his reappearance at the iWhakataki races on Thursday last, and won two races. He- i' nominated at the Masterton meeting, but as he is not too sound, it is quite'probable that the trip to the Coast 'may necessitate his having A spell. 'Gaelic is now a regular attendant at Opaki, and 'is striding out freely in his work. He will race at Opaki, and will be schooled over the battens afterwards, with a view to hurdle racing in the winter season. Old Moloch is again, in work, and a probable starter at Opaki. He is looking well, and if he could strike his old form he would still trouble the best of them. Sir Knox's name is already being mentioned in connection, with the, New Zealand Cup, many good judges averring that the chestnut colt is the making of an ideal cup horse. There are about twenty horses at present in work at Clarev'lle. The Masterton Club's nominations for their autumn meeting constitute a record, and everything points to a most successful .meeting. The. Rover, who is a previous winner of the Waipipi Cup, is again nominated. ..He has not raced for some time, ibut is reported to be galloping well at Foxton. Miss Ambrose, one of H. McPhee's team, competed unsuccessfully at the llatiiievirko -meeting. The St. Ambrose mare shows plenty of pace, but will require time, and should pay her way later on.
Negative had his leg badly cut when he fell at iWoodvillo, and it is doubtful if the Biirken head will he able to start at .Masterton. Gay 'Lass, a maiden in the same stable, is running along nicely, and. should not- be before she wins a race.
