SYNDICALISM.
The Oamaru branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway- Servants has struck a blow at syndicalism. It has passed a resolution strongly objecting to affiliation with outside Un-ion-1 , as proposed by professor Mills. The railway servants take quite a common-sense view of the labour question. They rightly object to icing coerced into quarrelling with their bread and butter because some miners, or tramwaymen, or other unionists find a pretext for ceasing work. The organisation which is being promoted by Professor Mills may be political in its inception. Once, however, it is registered as a corporate booy, it may be used as a lever to promote strikes of a far-reaching character.
