AN IMPORTANT PROPOSAL.

The Masterton Trust Lands Trustees are proposing an important innovation in sotting aside a fixed scholarship of £4O per year for one or more .years for every child that matriculates. This proposal might well be deferred until it is ascertained whether there is any possibility of securing an agricultural school for the district. If a school, or college, is obtainable (and there is no good reason why it should not .be) the Trustees should devote their scholarship funds to assisting students to graduate at this institution. The scholarship standard would not thou be one of matriculation.
