CLEM HILL'S LETTER VIEWS OF PLAYERS. (Received March 6, 10.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 6. Clem. Hill has written a long letter to the press, detailing the players' view regarding the cricket dispute. Ho attacks the personnel of the Board of Control, and states, in reference to Frank Layer's refusal to hand to the Board the books relating to the last tour, that they were Laver's private property. McAlister, as treasurer, had failed to keep the books, and desired Laver's iiv order to give the Board information. Laver had afterwards offered to show McAlister the books in order to dispel the grounds for insinuations that something was wrong. McAllister had then replied that he did not want them, but that as Laver had been disloyal the Board would not conftem his appointment as manager. A COUNTER MOVEMENT. SINGULARLY INAPPROPRIATE. (Received Mardh~6, 10.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 6. A movement is afoot to present Mr. E. F. McElhone, Chairman of fche Board of Control, with a testimonial. The University Club, however, has resolved that such action is singularly inappropriate.
