ROTHSCHILD ASSAULT CASE DETECTIVE BERG'S CONDITION SERIOUS. (Received March 6, 9.5 a.m.) The condition of Detective Berg who was wounded by Tehbitt, when the latter endeavoured to shoot Mr Leopold Rothschild, is serious. ■Mr - Rothschild states that he know Tehbitit when he was a boy and helped him on several occasions and finally sent him to Australia. Tebhitt was remanded. His solicitor stated that the prisoner's mind was affected by influenzla and overstudying in chemistry. TEBRHT WELL-KNOWN IN AUSTRALIA. CARRIED ON BUSINESS IN MELBOURNE. (Received Last Night, 9.50 o'clock-.) SYDNEY, March. 6. ■ Tebhitt was- well and favourably known in Australia. Ho came out ten years ago as repre. sent a tire of a London' leather firm which was controlled by his father. Until his departure for England a year ago, lie successfully carried on a branch office in Melbourne. His wife is at present in Sydney.
