WELLINGTON WOOL SALES
Messrs Levin 'and Co., Ltd., report : —At i?he fifth sale of tlio season held yesterday, 4000 bales were offered, our catalogue representing 600 bale<. There was a good attendance of buyers for this .period of the season, and a satisfactory offering of wool. Notwithstanding the strike in England, competition was, very, strong, and nearly every lot offered was taken a I a price fully equal to February rates, 1 with the exception of the. best lines, suita;b!'c> for America, which • lacked competition from that quarter, and showed a decline of |d. Lambs' wool was steady and strong. Yesterday was 'tillo last main sale of the season, and closed <i very satisfactory series, during which, out of a total offering of 8500 bales, we sold all but 400 bales. Looking back, the prices obtained by farmers all through appear to liavo been most gratifying. Following is the range of as compared with February's sa.'e:—Halfbreds, February prices, none offering—yesterday's prices, 9-Jd to lOJcl; fine, crossbreds, 9-id to 10.}d —BJd to crossbreds, 9d to 92d —7-Jd to 8-J-d ; inferior 6-Jd to 73d. —6-Jd to 7*d ; pieces and bellies, s£d to 7id — 3Jd to 4-Jd; locks, 3|d to 4-Jd —3-id to 4Jd ; lambs, best, 8-id to lOd —Bid to ( J;[:1; lainibs, medium, 71d to 8^(1- —7|d to 9d ; 'ltwn-bs, inferior, (ijd to 7-Jd —6-Jd to 7-Jd.
